Horseshoe Chorus Seeks Male Singers
The Altoona
Horseshoe Chorus is seeking male singers for it’s May 9th 2009 show. The chorus is a member of the Barbershop
Harmony Society and was originally incorporated in the early 1950’s to sing
four part “Barbershop Harmony”. The Society has evolved to sing many different
types of music in the “four-part” barbershop harmony style.
The chorus performs an annual show to
showcase the chorus and local quartets and has earned a reputation for bringing
in highly ranked International Quartet Champions to entertain their audiences.
Members take pride in performing at local nursing homes and other functions and
has had the distinction of singing with the Altoona Symphony Orchestra, arts
festivals, patriotic functions, church services and often sings the National
Anthem at Altoona Curve Games and other sports events.
The Horseshoe Chorus is under the
directorship of Michael Stuart who comes to the Chorus with a B.S. In Music
degree from Samford University and a Master of Church Music degree from
Southwestern Seminary.
The Chorus is open to men of all ages
from “Nine to Ninety”. High School and College age men are especially welcome
and have made a huge impact within the Society at International Competition.
